As of March 2016, 110 years’ worth of live video was watched daily, and today 350,000 hours of video were streamed every day. Take advantage of this phenomenon with Periscope, Twitter’s live video-streaming app. The platform has more than 10 million registered accounts and 1.9 million daily active users – and companies would be wise to reach out to this audience.
Creating a Periscope account doesn’t require a Twitter account, as your phone number works, too. That said, to get the most out of the social aspects of Periscope, it’s recommended that companies use a Twitter handle to create the account. Once you’ve logged in, you can create your own live-stream, see a list of the people your account follows who are currently broadcasting, and view a list of broadcasts your account viewed in the last day. With Periscope, you can replay videos you’ve already watched, as well as see a global list of live public broadcasts and their locations.
